Ramon's out by the lake, despite it being early. There had been no sleep and he got Random to let him into the bar as soon as the sun came up. So he's out there, sitting on a rock - coincidentally, the same one he'd been sitting on when Arithon came to find him after the Valar duel. Just like then, he's smoking and the smoke hangs in the still air while he stares out over the water.

"They almost let me go, once."

He says quietly,

"They changed their minds. I do not know why. Now that they have decided you will do...well. They are looking out for me. I do not wish to be what they need me to be, not all of it."

Then he shrugs, and grins helplessly at Ramon,

"We have time to decide."

"I know."

He looks up at Ramon, shakes his head, and laughs softly,

"This is most likely why you were chosen. It...bothers me, but no more than it would if anyone else had to do what needs to be done. You understand."

And then he shakes his head more firmly,

"No plans, not yet. This has us reeling."

Only in a vague, distant, oh-look-its-mewling way if that's all that he wants. Arithon will be a very attentive father.

"I...would not be surprised if you are right. I like children."

The bright, young smile of his flashes out and he leans back,

"It will be up to Bianca how many, but I would like to have several children."

He isn't thinking about lifespans. He will continue to not think about lifespans.

"Usually caith'd'ein is inherited."

The little prince says with a shrug,

"However, you are to live five hundred years. I would worry more about your great grandchildren times several generations."

"Asandir identified me while I was without sanity, passed out, and barely capable of being counted alive."

Arithon says dryly,

"He will manage."

Nobody, for a moment, thought that it would. Arithon leans back on the rock and watches the sky for a while,

"Very true. How were your holidays?"

"Tell me of it?"

He asks, with real interest. Arithon enjoys new places. Usually people in places he hasn't been before aren't trying to kill him.

Arithon listens, in silence, with a faint smile on his lips. He has never loved a place; never really had a chance to develop love for a place.

"My hopes that you may return to it, soon."

"For me?"

Arithon looks at Ramon wryly,

"Say, rather, for Rathain. It is not in the nature of caith'd'ein to listen overmuch to their kings. There are five hundred years. Plus the time spent here, it does not count in the five hundred."

"I have no doubt."

He says, not rubbing the back of his head and neck. He's worked hard to get rid of that particular twitch,

"I hope to not make it a need. I do not like headaches."

Yet another situation that Arithon knows nothing about. Which is fine, because he'd fret for all three of them.

He shakes his head,

"I have not really been in the bar, yet. Just long enough to say goodbye to Jiask, help Asandir make Bianca human..."

Which deserves another moment of giddy silence,

"And get cider."

"It was shocking."

He says after a moment,

"And, yes. It did. Something which rode her for five centuries was removed. How could it not hurt? She does not even remember what it is like to have to breathe all the time. She is not used to the hundreds of small aches which are part of every day life."

A deep breath, and a shrug,

"But we will go, and see her house by sunlight."

"It will."

He grins at Ramon again, and then looks at the empty cup,

"I should go back to her...she has not eaten in five hundred years."

They are. Arithon follows with glee and amusement in equal parts.

Usually the royalty leads.
