OOM: Bogotá on fight night

He'd never really thought that Fiona would take him up on his casual offer to come to watch him fight. Not that it seemed like she was full of shit or anything...but she is a woman. They say things easily, they're flippant and don't have the stomach for anything rough.
His opinion of women at the moment is, justifiably he thinks, low. Maria can shoulder a lot of the blame for that.
He always fights on a Friday and this week, he's definitely in the mood to cause some pain. He'd almost forgotten about Fi but when he opens the bathroom door and looks out onto the bar, he figures why not? He can even see her from where he's standing and she doesn't look like she's doing anything important.
'Busy tonight?'
He's never been much good at small talk.

'But you can't hurt my son.'
He's sure it's a boy. Sure of it.

His son.
She knows only a little, but it's enough.
"Caro."

Date: 2010-03-14 03:10 am (UTC)'Just give me a minute,' he mutters, almost embarrassed. It's like her seeing Maria is letting her see him as real, not the image that the world knows, the cartel prince that is touched by nothing. He didn't want anyone seeing this.
He turns to the girl, who is looking smug now that Fi's backed off. And she's moving to him with a hand stretched out to his face; he draws back as far as he can without moving his feet. His face is blank. He's obviously not pleased to see her.
'What do you want, Maria?'
'I heard there was shooting. Papa didn't want me to come but I had to see if you were alright.'
She's touching him now, running a hand down his jaw. His face is turned away and disgusted, hand curling to a fist at his side; she's not even looking at him, she's staring at Fi with a sly expression, making her superior claim.
'As you can see, I'm fine. Go away.'
'I think maybe I should come and live here. Keep you safe.'
Her tone is taunting and yep, still looking at Fi. She leans up to kiss his cheek and it takes every ounce of restraint not to hit her. Instead, he steps away sharply and grabs her shoulders.
'Out. I'll call you tomorrow.'
He totally wont and she seems to know this because now she's looking at him and smiling in what she thinks is a winning way, reaching for the remains of his erection.
'I'll stay. Throw her out.'
He steps back hurriedly but still doesn't touch her. He doesn't know what damages pregnant women. He doesn't know anything about pregnant women and he looks to Fi with a helpless sort of expression.

Date: 2010-03-14 03:21 am (UTC)When she reaches for him the last time, something in her chest breaks. She's in motion without thought, grabbing the woman's long dark hair, controlling her head and with it her whole body.
"Bitch, you heard him."
She knows Ramon won't interfere, somehow, and even though she doesn't have anything in height on Maria, she has the experience that comes with bringing in bail jumpers three times her size (make them comply, don't leave any marks, dead men are worthless). She grabs that clawed hand aimed at her eyes, and twists it up behind Maria's back, steering her back out the door.
Naked as the day she was born, impervious to the wounded animal shrieking coming from the woman's lips (mother of his children), she walks her down the stairs and into the waiting arms of his security.
To his driver, she growls, "If I hear another soul down here for the rest of the night, I'm coming back down here with the shotgun."
She doesn't give the woman another look, not even the barest hint that she has won. She stalks back up the stairs and slams the door to his room shut hard enough to shake the entire house.
