Millitimed to after the conversation with future!Mary Anne...

Ramon swings open the door to Haven and if he were the type to bound in then...he would. But he isn't, so he just closes it quietly after him and calls out,

'Random?'

with a huge grin on his face. He's hoping he hasn't disappeared off to work or out with Martin or something. He has to talk to him and the sooner the better.

Ramon laughs too, albeit weakly. He's rather lost track of things...like his own name, for example, where they live, what colour his hair is. None of it matters. He just wants to bask in the afterglow that's stealing over him, and hold Random and let that be it.

'Not as hot as you, guarentee it.'

He's being held and that's just fine, because he doesn't want to move. But will soon, in case he hurts him by accident.

'Mmphf. That was...incredible.'

Best way ever to spend an afternoon.

"And we're going to do it again, again and again, and that sort of thing doesn't grow weary or stale."

He swears it.

"Breathe, sweet thing."

Oh yes. Breathing. That helps. Ramon grins and nods, taking a few deeps ones to calm down.

'Better.'

Now comes the problem of moving. Doesn't want to but it's another of those necessary things. Still, he kisses Random first. Can't rush these things.

'Always do it. Can't do without it.

...you'd better let me up before I squash you.'

Nice though, lying like this. Close is always nice.

"You're not squashing me."

But he does unwrap himself, and groan painedly as Ramon moves away, even if it's just a little.

"Stay close."

He does, because he doesn't want to be away from him either - just shifts to the side a touch so he can rest a hand on Random's stomach and lean on an elbow to look down at his face.

'You alright?'

"I'm in love."

He rests his hand on top of Ramon's.

"Desperately."

Which makes Ramon smile like nothing else, and he leans down to kiss him.

'So am I.'

And a soft kiss to the cheek as he lies down next to him, leaving their hands together on his stomach.

'Mary Anne said something else. Just a little thing I suppose,' only it's not to him, '...we're living in Columbia. So at some point, you take me home.'

His thumb starts rubbing a gentle gircle on his skin.

'So thank you. In advance, I mean.'

"It'll be good."

He laces his fingers with Ramon's.

"Are we happy? Tell me what it'll be like? Make it up if you have to."

'Very happy. She said we're doing great.'

That bit is true. But he knows nothing else so he just nuzzles a little closer and does as he's asked. Makes it up.

'It'll be like...everything we ever wanted. Back there, we might be doing something different or just retired, or on vacation. But it'll be us, in our house and together.'

He takes a little of Random's hair between his fingers and twirls it idly. He's not good at inventing things but tries to imagine.

'When it's hot, we spend a lot of time in the pool There's horses for if we want to go out and I got you to make us another hammock on that ledge I showed you, so we can lie on the cliff and see something nice. And Martin comes to visit you all the time and so does Mary Anne and we go and party in the city a lot and I don't have to hide.'

"Is Columbia doing well?"

He turns to nuzzle Ramon's fingers.

"Your country? Are the old properties still open and ours? Do we have space to be alone sometimes, just me and you?"

'It's doing well by my standards.'

He laughs a little and stretches a finger to press on the end of Random's nose.

'The government's still fucked and generally run by me and the other cartels. Drug trade is stronger than ever and its great, because this is a couple of hundred years from now and everyone thinks I died in exile long ago. So I can br in the house I signed over to you, under your false name and corporation and no one suspects a thing - but still be involved if I want to. Get people to run things and report to me and I still have everything. My money's been in the banks so long there's about ten times as much of it and we have all the space we want. I just tell people to fuck off and get on with stuff and then it's me and you, doing whatever we want.'

He hopes it turns out like that. He can't imagine what it'll be like to not be in the thick of things but also sensible enough to know that there are going to have to be some changes.

"We'll have saved some things. Made the schools better for the little one. Sent them off to their classes. Maybe I'll have a few people I'm taking care of, then, I can go into the city during the days and see how things work. Keep my fingers in."

He sighs, happily.

"Spend long, hot nights together."

'He'll have grown up by then,' Ramon points out lazily, squeezing a little at Random's fingers.

'But you can take care of anyone you want, and I'll take care of business. If we're doing things in the day, it'll make the long, hot nights together even better.'

He smiles, thinking of them, tangled up at in their bed at home, loving each other through every sweet, humid, Colombian night. It makes him wish he were there even more - but this is almost as good.

"I'll get back into painting again. You, with the night air on your skin, in bed."

He might get into painting even sooner.

"Maybe a mural in the town. Kids schools with underwater scenes on the walls. Make the concrete and whitewash a little bit nicer. I used to be a teacher, you know."

'Mmm, you should. You said you'd do me a picture of the two of us that I could keep with me.'

He still wants that.

'No, I didn't know that. I'm not surprised though, you've always liked kids. What age did you teach, what subject?'

"Over the years?"

He has to think about this.

"Fencing, latin, greek, paeleontology, gym, Touggourt- that's a kind of sport, some places- and literature. Oh, and drama. Self defence too. Music, obviously."

'...I didn't know.'

And Random continues to surprise him.

'Why would you want to? I know you like kids but do you really enjoy being surrounded by them all the time?'

"A lot of them were late teenagers or heck, even older. Adult classes aren't as nice as kids."

He shrugs, a little.

"I like the immediacy of the trust and affection. You don't automatically get that sort of responsibility and friendship in many places. People like teachers."

'I didn't like mine.'

But then, he doesn't like most people. Ramon stops twiddling Random's hair between his fingers and rolls onto his back, taking a pack of cigarettes from the bedside table and lighting one.

'You like it when people like you, don't you?'

Sometimes I get the impression you've been trying to be loved your whole life.

"Well... yeah."

He sort of takes that for granted, that most people enjoy being liked a little. Being taken care of a little.

"It's nice, sometimes."

'Mmm.'

He's non-commital because, as Random knows, he doesn't give a damn if anyone likes him at all. Even the people he likes...Random is, obviously, the exception these days.

But then he grins and rolls back on to his side, holds the cigarette away so there's no danger of burning, and kisses Random lightly.

'Well, I like you. And always will, so you don't need to worry about that ever again.'

"I know you do."

He leans up to give him a slightly longer kiss, then reaches out to steal a drag from the cigarette.

"It feels good."

'Just thought I'd better remind you.'

He tuts at the thievery but hadn't expected anything else.

'How long will Martin sleep for, you think?'

"Um."

Glancing out the window at the light.

"A few minutes, I should imagine."

He groans and steals his cigarette back.

'I was going to go to sleep for a bit. You wore me out. Doesn't matter though - I'll go and shower and make us coffee.'

Random can sort the boy out.
