It's late. And it's hot. Ramon had waited up for as long as he could but the heat would make anyone sleepy and he'd eventually given in. Besides, with the time difference, Random probably wouldn't be back for ages yet.

So Ramon goes to sleep without giving it a second thought, windows open to let some air into the stuffy room.

"Yes, but it's even better when you dance up to it, too."

He likes it this way, even though the laugh makes it a tad edgy and he turns to try to see his face. To reassure himself.

"I like dancing with other people best. You're so independant, though, it suits you."

Ramon sends him a look that's amused on the surface, but not nearly as flippant as he'd like it to be.

'Other people that aren't me? I'm offended.'

He clearly isn't. Though he is checking that Random didn't actually mean that. And the comment on independance makes him quiet for a while, which he covers by smoking a little. Eventually he just adds,

'I should dance with you more.'

"No, that's not what I mean. Other people other than myself. Dancing in the kitchen is fun as opposed to dancing to you in the club which is better."

He didn't mean that at all.



"But I would like it if you'd come out with me."

'Oh right, I see what you mean.'

Ramon considers the whole thing for a moment, then just leans down to kiss him softly. When he sits up again, he's smiling and relaxed.

'Some things are better with two people. And I'll go out with you whevener you want me to. You know I'll take any excuse to watch you move.'

"Good, because there's nothing better than dancing with you."

He smiles up at him, in some relief.

"You like it when I move with you? I'm a good dancer, I think."

'Nothing better? Nothing at all?'

An eyebrow is raised in teasing enquiry. Because Random can't mean that, surely?

'I like it when you move with me, yeah. On the dancefloor, in bed, walking beside me. Any or all, all the time. It's a nice thing to watch.'

Better than nice.

He just wants to hear him talk. Anything to keep him talking.

"'m glad. I love you. You used to be a bit shy about touching in public."

Ramon smiles again and his hand strokes carefully down through blonde hair, over and over.

'Not shy. I just didn't want to draw attention really, given that I'm supposed to be staying undeground on this planet.'

It's a convenient excuse anyway. Better than admitting that he found it a little weird at first.

'Have you ever been shy about it? When it's another man, I mean.'

"In the beginning."

He sets his head on Ramon's shoulder again.

"I had a boyfriend who liked to take me out and grope me in public places to make me blush. It killed that fast, you know?"

Ramon snickers and says,

'Yeah, I suppose it would. Who was this guy? He sounds like fun.'

"Someone a long time ago. A few thousand years. Black man. Jazz player. Huge guy. I liked him. I wanted to kill him sometimes, because he wasn't exactly tactful. Liked to get me off in public."

'I like getting you off in public,' he points out. 'Only you don't always let me. So I suppose you must still be a bit shy.'

He still doesn't like thinking of Random with other people, even though he knows it's ridiculous.

"You're good at getting the message when you're pushing it."

He lifts his hand and kisses it.

"So it's alright. I just don't like being vulnerable, is all."

He watches Random's face with a slight smile. Hair tangles round his fingers and he fixes onto a lock and tugs it lightly.

'I don't ever want to make you feel vulnerable. You have to remember that because I'm good at doing that to people. I've relied on it over the years, so I kind of do it automatically - but you can't let me do it to you, alright? Promise me.'

"I will. Try my very, very best, I promise."

He hates it enough as it is.

"If I freak? That's probably part of it, you know?"

'Yeah but...'

He hesitates because this is awfully close to a subject they talked about a long while ago and it's not one he wants to revisit.

'...if you're at the point of freaking, it's already gone too far. You have to stop me before you get that bad.'

Ramon leans down and kisses him again, hopefully in a reassuring way.

'I love you. I don't want to make you feel bad, especially not over something stupid like a quick fuck in a public place. I'll be careful but if I on't pick it up, then just tell me.'

"It's never been bad, you know?"

He kisses him in return, soothingly, too.

"You know what I mean though, right? It's why I got weird after the jeep. You're so good to me. It's mind numbingly wonderful sex. With me, on my back, completely unable to stop screaming. What if someone came? I'm stupid, really. I innitiate it all the bloody time, and then bite off more than I can chew, you know?"

'Someone did come, as I recall. Loudly.' he says, with a cheeky grin. Because some bad puns are just too obvious not to make. But then he sobers a little, and nods.

'I wouldn't care if anyone showed up really. Not if we're just fucking. But if it would bother you, then I'll make sure it never happens.'

"I like it. Really, I do. But when I get really, really gone. You know what I mean? It's a little difference. Knowing if they came up I'd lie there still begging you like some sort of bitch in heat."

The embarassment touching his voice now is profound.

"I couldn't."

'Baby...'

Ramon tilts Random's face up so he can look at him seriously, let him see that that is never going to happen.

'...I would never let anyone see that. Never. That's a lot different than just fucking when we're both coherent and laughing and enjoying it. When you're that open and lost - that's just for us. Like when we're making love. That's not a show for other people to see.'

He has strong opinions on this now, ever since he let Random have him. He would never want anyone to see him needing so badly. So he presses a kiss to Random's lips and runs a finger down his cheek.

'I love you. Believe me. I'll never let anyone see you like that.'

"Thanks."

He's rather mortified now. Looking up at him incredulously, lovingly.

"Just. Thanks. It is different, even if it's still not careful love."

'Vulnerable. Like you said.'

Ramon studies his face carefully, trying to determine if he's alright.

'Are you OK? Do you want a drink or anything?'

"No. Please just keep holding me."

He looks back at him, resting against him, relaxing into him.

"You'll keep me safe."

If it kills me.

A finger traces down his jaw, his neck, along his collarbone. It lingers over the taut skin for a moment and then he kisses him again, as arms envelop him and hold him near.

'Always.'
