But! He reminds himself that he doesn't care what people think and can probably explain to anyone that she's the wife of a friend. Maybe even that Martin's her son and he's just being a good guy by helping out and carrying him. Yeah. That'll work.
'Fine,' he grumps at her, as though it's her fault that all the chicks are about a mile away. Martin is hefted to his shoulder and he wanders on.
